Q: How do I reset my Perform service warning on my 2004 Jeep Liberty?
My 2004 jeep liberty was serviced 4 wks ago (a few miles early) and today during a 4 hr road trip the perform service warning came on with 3 ding sounds... Is the computer set up for the warning to display after certain miles even after being serviced resently? How do I reset this? The sounds and warning came on just once durning the trip and everytime I start the car the sounds come on and the warning on the display but as soon as I start to drive the Perform Service goes away and the sounds do not come back.... Can anyone please help me with some information???

A: Hit the reset button on your cluster. You might have to hold it.

Q: What are the little red switches on my 2004 Jeep Liberty Dash?
I just bought a used 2004 Jeep liberty columbia edition and it is an automatic. There are 2 red switches on the dash below the climate control and right in front of the 4wd shift. I can't figure out what these switches are for. I have an owners manual but do not see anything about them. Can anyone explain?

A: They were probably installed for aftermarket accessories that the previous owner had, and removed but left the switches in the vehicle. May have been offroad lights, fog lights etc.

Q: Can you wire the volume controls on the steering wheel of a 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited to a post market stereo?
Just purchased a 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited, which has volume controls on the rear side of the steering wheel. I'm just wondering it it's at all possible to wire the current controls on the wheel to an after market stereo?

A: I looked on crutchfield.com, and they sell little boxes by a company called PAC ADAPTER that interface between your steering wheel audio controls and select aftermarket car stereos. A lot of aftermarket stereos come with wireless remotes. The PAC SWI-X wires into your steering wheel controls, and commands the stereo through the wireless remote. Check compatibility with the stereo you're interested in. Also, this solution can have problems when there is direct sunlight on the face of your stereo. Direct wire-in adapters that don't use the IR remote are available for some aftermarket stereos: • PAC SWI-PS - for some Pioneer and Sony stereos • PAC SWI-JACK - for some Alpine, Clarion, JVC, and Kenwood stereos • PAC SWI-ALP - for some Alpine stereos All these are compatible with your 2004 Liberty steering wheel controls, according to crutchfield.com. Probably the best thing to do is find a car stereo that and is compatible with one of these devices and has the features and price you like.

Q: Can i up grade my 2004 jeep liberty keys to the newwer liberty's keyfobs??
I have a 2004 Jeep Liberty my keys are a key and the remote, now then newer jeeps have the key fobs with the key built on the remote. Can i upgrand my keys to that?? Cuase on my volvo s60 2003 i did that into the new switchblade keys.

A: No you can't switch over to the new keys. The actual key part is not the same. Therefore the lock cylinders and the ingition cylinder is different. I really can't tell for sure but i believe the electronics are different as well(RF, transponder frequency, etc.)

Q: Where can i find 2004 Jeep Liberty replacement body panels?
i ripped off the front fender on my 2004 Jeep Liberty, i was pulling down the drive way in our van and hit a patch of icing sliding the van into our liberty. it took off the right front fender along with the inside black wheel well cover or what ever you want to call it. nothing is bent, luckily, but i was wondering if there is a place where i can find replacement parts because i know if i go to the dealer it will cost me an arm and a leg.

A: Call around to different junkyards. That will be your best bet and cheapest way to go. If they don't have any there, i'll bet they can atleast point you in the riht direction. You could also try looking on Ebay and finding someone who lives near you selling one. If all else fails, its worth a shot.

Q: Is there a way i can program a second remote for my 2004 jeep liberty?
I have 2 remotes left over from a 2005 dodge neon that i totaled :( The remotes appear to be exactly the same as my jeep liberty remote.

A: No, if your Jeep has a ignition demobilizing key you'll have to call a dealer for a new one. Its a signal sent out from the key to the on board computer that allows the starter to engage. Keys are big buck items too.$125.00 or more

Q: Why does my oil light in my 2004 jeep liberty remain on when I first start my car?
The light will then turn off after re-starting the car. The car has been doing this for a little over a month off and on. I have been getting oil changes every 2,000 miles hoping to cure the problem. The Jeep is idling and running very rough and the transition between gears is very harsh.

A: What weight oil are you using? In cold weather you should be down to 5W-30. If that's not it get the pressure read by a reliable gauge to make sure its not the sending unit, if that checks out, it could be an internal problem, sludge, weak oil pump, worn main bearings, etc.

Q: Rims question for 2004 jeep liberty renegade?
Im looking for a good website where i can buy some black rims for my 2004 jeep renegade. How big should they be? I just want them to look right and not so cartoonish. And if I buy rims for my truck can it also be suitable for offroading? And what do i do with my old tires?

A: The size of the rim depends on the size of the tire you are looking for. Your stocked rim size is more than likely 15x8 (or 16x8), so for that size without modifications to your Jeep, such as a lift, I wouldn't suggest any tire bigger than 31x10.50x15 (or 31x10.50x16). If you don't do a lot of offroading, I would suggest the All Terrain tires. As for your old tires, if they have good tread, you can always sell them, but if not, then the tire dealer you go to can take them and dispose of them. Here are some good websites that sell the black rims: http://www.4wd.com http://www.quadratec.com http://www.rustysoffroad.com http://www.jcwhitney.com http://www.autotrucktoys.com

A: i haven't done it in about a year, but i think you have to remove the whole light which is held by screws.

Q: My 2004 Jeep Liberty Spun out on a turn and kept spinning then hitting a sign on the side of the road.?
well last nite, during heavy rain. I was making a left turn on an intersection, I dont know if pushed the gas a little too hard while turning but all of the sudden i started spinning so fast like 3 times (while i was spinning i was steering the opposite way to reduce spin) then my car got on the curb and ran over a sign, resulting with a flat tire. Thank goodness there was an empty parking lot a couple feet away where i can drive to. So why did my 2004 Jeep liberty Renegade V6 4X4 (automatic) 3.7L spin out? i even had all terrain tires. Should i have set my car to 4X4? I just recently bought this car and dont know how to shift from rear wheel to 4 wheel.

A: Learn how to drive. And if you would have shifted into 4WD you would have been in more trouble. 4WD will not help you stop, and since you apparently don't know anything about 4WD you should sell your jeep and buy a 2WD car. Turning the opposite way to reduce a skid got you into more trouble. When skidding or sliding turn in the direction of the skid. Your lucky you didn't roll the vehicle doing what you did. The Jeep libertys are notorious for this due to their light weight, and low traction on the rear wheels. When driving in rain or slick conditions don't press on the accelerator so hard, its not a sports car. Tires don't make a difference, knowing how to control your vehicle, and learning how to drive it is what will make a difference. Putting your truck in 4WD would have caused you to have less control of your vehicle because now the front wheels are also turning and pulling you into the skid farther. So its probably a good thing you don't know how to use the 4WD. Here's how to use your 4WD though. With your vehicle you probably have part time 4WD or a combination of both part time and full time 4WD. Either way you can shift into 4WD high part time or full time at highway speeds (I recommend you don't though it will lead to things breaking and wearing out) simply pull up on the lever and your in 4WD, there aren't any manual hubs to turn just the lever to pull. This system should only be used in slick road conditions or offroad use. Never use 4WD on dry pavement.

Q: Installing after market stereo in 2004 Jeep Liberty?
I gave my sister my old MP3 Player for her jeep.. I have everything installed correctly. Everything works as far as wiring goes. The only problem I have is the Antenna. Her antenna does not match my stereo. I have never seen one like the one on the Jeep. Do I need to get an adapter for it? How do I install the Antenna?

A: You need an antenna adapter. It can be found at any car audio store. Metra's part number is 40-CR10.

Q: How do I replace the stop light on the drivers side for the 2004 Jeep Liberty?

A: REMOVAL Open the tailgate to access and remove the screws that secure the rear lamp unit to the side jamb of the tailgate opening Pull the outboard side of the rear lamp rearward far enough to unsnap the two ball studs on the outboard side of the lamp housing from the quarter panel. Disconnect the wire harness connector for the lamp from the connector on the lamp socket plate. Remove the rear lamp from the quarter panel.
