Q: How do I remove the center portion of the dashboard on a 2002 Jeep Liberty?
I own a 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport and am going to be mounting an iPod to the dashboard. I want to route an audio cable from the aux port on the front of my stereo to the earphone port on the top of the iPod. I want as little of this cable as possible to show, so what I want to do is run it behind the dashboard. The simplest way to do this is to run it behind the CENTER portion of the dashboard the covers the two A/C vents with the emergency sigle button between the two vents. I know how to remove the facia that covers the radio on this portion of the dash, but how in the heck do I remove this center portion of the dashboard? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Kirk

A: crutchfield.com has an awesome tech support site. You may be able to find illustrations and detailed instructions for your make and model.

Q: What is the standard tint on a 2002 Jeep Liberty?
I just got a 2002 jeep liberty (black) and i want to tint the front two windows and wind shield. what percent are they?

A: The factory tint is definitely 15% . Check your local tint laws to see if you can match it on the front windows. Most states have restrictions. http://www.tintlaws.com/about.html

Q: Why does my 2002 Jeep Liberty hydroplane so much?
I have a 2002 jeep liberty, and it always hydroplanes and its getting dangerous, to the point where it took me to the other side of the street and almost onto someones lawn in traffic. some people told me not to go over 35mph, but it doesnt happen when im going fast. ususally at turns when i make sure to go slow, or at stop signs when i stop, then slowly press the gas pedal. is it my tires? i don't know. help!

A: It's your tires! Get a penny, and put it head-down into the tread of your tires, and if you can see Abe's face, then you need some new tires!!! New tires should be safer for your vehicle.

Q: Are the bushings in the upper control arms of a 2002 Jeep Liberty serviceable?
The dealer has said that the bushings in the upper control arms for a 2002 Jeep Liberty are not serviceable and new control arms must be purchased instead. They are apparently sealed into the arms somehow. Can anyone show me documentation otherwise? Please help. After fighting with the warranty company and the dealership, it turns out the bushings are 100% serviceable. This makes perfect sense of course. Jeep was just trying to grab a few hundred more dollars for their pockets.

A: moog shows a part # k7390 but my source does not show any available at this time. I know they are replaceable but parts availability may be an issue. they said the same thing about the upper ball joints and control arm bushings on the dodge durangos until they had to recall the upper ball joints and then suddenly they are available separately and I have also replace the upper bushings on durangos and dakotas and they still say they are serviced only with the control arms.

Q: Draning the antifreeze out of a 2002 jeep liberty?
I need to know how to drain the antifreeze out of a 2002 jeep liberty , when we bought the car someone overfilled it and now we are trying to drain it but it will not come out. If you have any pointers please let me know thanks alot !!

A: How did they overfill it? The radiator will only hold so much than it goes into the overflow. If you really need to drain some coolant, there is a drain cock on the bottom corner of the radiator, usually on the drivers side. Be careful when loosening as it will break. If you get it loosened and nothing comes out you have more problems. You have a lot of sediment in the system which is not good for your engine. Remember, when you drain the antifreeze, do not just drain it on the ground. The sweet smell and taste attracts animals(dogs and cats)and will poison them.

Q: problems with 2002 jeep liberty air conditioner?
i have a 2002 jeep liberty with a/c problem, mechanic says it will cost 1000 dollars is that accurate.

A: usually if an evaporator goes bad it is going to cost around 1000 dollars for a dealer to do it. if you are paying 1000 dollars at an independent shop you are getting ripped off an evaporator retails for $360 at the dealership. It would take a few hours of labor and at $75-100 per hour it adds up fast. If they are doing anything else(besides a full system contamination) you are getting ripped off. Even a compressor is $534 but it should only take an hour to change. Hope this helps.

Q: Can I drive a 2002 Jeep liberty Sport Offroad with stock tires?
I've seen many pictures of liberties offroad, but they all have mud or rock tires. I have good year wrangler tires. They tend to slip a little in 2wd when its raining though. I am not looking to ford a pond or rock crawl, just get my liberty a little dirty. I do have 4wd.

A: Yes it will be OK with those tires on a dirt road or a fire trail or that type of driving. Just don't go getting into any mud or loose gravel with those tires. Learn a little at a time what the Liberty is capable of and you will be just fine. If you are a novice off roader then find an experienced off roader to go with you. I have found it is always safer to have another vehicle along. I never go it alone on the trails.

Q: What is causing the headlights on my 2002 Jeep Liberty to turn off and on by themselves while driving?
I took it in to the Jeep dealership and they were unable to find any malfunction codes or reproduce the problem.

A: Poor connection somewhere. Does it happen when the car hits a bump? Have them drive it on a bumpy road. If they still cannot duplicate the problem, it could be your car just "winking" when a cute guy is driving a Porsche towards you... :-)

Q: how do i hook up an amp to a 2002 jeep liberty?
ok ineed some help fast. how would i go about hook ing up an amp to my 02 jeep liberty.

Q: 2002 Jeep Liberty Grinding Sound in the rear end when turning?
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty and when I am making turns there is a grinding noise coming from the rear end, it's also there when making turns in reverse. I had the dealership check it out and they said it was dirty rear brakes, I had the brakes serviced and the grinding is still there. The grinding sound gets worse with the sharpness of the turn. Any ideas??

A: It sounds like the clip for the limited slip clutches is broken I have seen it before and the more you drive it he more damage it does take it in to a shop asap.

Q: How to turn off engine light on 2002 jeep liberty?
Once problem is fixed, how long untill engine light goes off?

A: Get the truck checked out, if there is nothing wrong that they can find, try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. This may reset the computer, if it just has a glitch.

Q: I have a 2002 jeep liberty that makes a banging noise when accelerating?
When I am at a complete stop and I accelerate the jeep makes a knocking banging noise. Its not very loud but very noticable. The dealer of course said there was no noise but I know Im not crazy. Any ideas what this is. It only does it coming to a stop and taking off.

A: sounds like one of your engine mounts came loose or is broken and it could a transmission mount also.try opening your hood start the moter put a block in front and back of the front wheell then step on the brake while you goose the throttle just a little see if your mtr raises up and clunks back down .you will have to do this in drive and reverse to ck both.if movement seems to be excessive get it ck by a mechanic also to confirm it for sure. one other thing make sure your exhaust pipe is tight mtr mount play hell on them

Q: Where is the fuse box in a 2002 Jeep Liberty?
Just need to change a blown fuse, but I can't if I don't know where the fuse box is lololol.

A: There are fuses on the drivers end of the dash under a cover(called Junction Block) and there are also fuses in a box under the hood(called Power Distribution Center). If you know what fuse you are looking for i can tell you which box and what number and possibly send you a picture

Q: My 2002 Jeep Liberty stalled while driving?
My Jeep suddenly stallled while driving and won't start. Never happened before. What could be wrong? What should I be checking for?

A: Did you run out of gas? silly question, but gotta ask when it died, did it just cut off, or did it sputter and cough a little first? how fast were you going?
