Q: Do many ppl have problems w/cracked windshields on a 2007 Jeep Commander?
i have a 2007 jeep commander and it is about 2yrs old now and i am just about to replace wat will b my 4th windshield from cracks it seems as though every couple months a new crack appears over the passenger side of the windshield i was wondering if this is a common problem or it it the way i am driving. i dont live near a construction site or drive by one regularly and there is no reason i can think that causes this repitition.

A: there is such a thing as a stress crack.this can be caused by a defective w/s or impropper installation.check your warranty on the reciept that was given to you or call the glass company that installed it but do not tell them you think you may have a stress crack.the glass companies i worked for offered a lifetime warranty against that and believe me i replaced many of w/s for that reason.

Q: Should I purchase a 2007 Jeep Commander Rocky Mountain or a 2007 Hummer H3?
Hummer H3 costs $562 per month, and the Jeep Commander Rocky Mountain is $520 per month? What vehicle would you recommend me purchasing? Everything from coolness, gas mileage, price, quality, manufacturers warranty? Please reasonable answers.

A: You may want to check the option list on both vehicles as well as the terms 48, 60, 72 or 80 months of payments . It doesn't seem like you would be getting much of a HUMMER for $520 a month, without a good down payment. I paid cash for my H3, but I know at $45,000 the payments would have been closer to $750 over 72 months. As far as coolness, the HUMMER smokes hands down. There's not too many of them so they never fail to turn heads (for good or bad). It is not a generic box like the Jeep. If you plan on 4 wheelin', the HUMMER walks over the Commander. It's also more comfortable and gives a superior feeling of safety. Not to mention the 5 star crash rating. I also feel that the quality is superior and the warranty reflects that (100,000 mile powertrain; 50,000 mile bumper to bumper) And if your worried about MPG you shouldn't be considering either. Mine is lifted with 35" tires and gets 15 on the freeway. You just don't buy these vehicles for gas mileage; you buy them for coolness. Be forewarned to take the good with the bad; with as many compliments as you'll get, be prepared for the enviroterrorists. I love to see them sneer! Why do we drive HUMMERS? Because WE CAN!!

Q: Cigarette burn on inside roof of 2007 Jeep Commander?
My daughter accidentally burned a cigarette into the roof of my brand new Jeep Commander . Does anyone have any suggestions or knowledge on how to repair this ??? Do it yourself would be awesome.

A: Why is someone smoking inside of a new car? You don't like new car smell? Its burned! There is no good fix for a burned material. To avoid another burn I'd quit smoking and not allow smoking in my new (or old) auto.

Q: What price should I expect to pay monthly to lease a 2007 Jeep Commander? Toyota Sequoia?
Assume 36 months with no money out of pocket at time of signing. Also assume that I have a current lease with 12 months left at 360 per. What will that add to the bottom line? Please give some background w/ your answers...

A: anyone who gives you a dollar amount, doesnt have a clue.. my brother does personal financing for bmw and worked for toyota.. it all depends on your credit! if you have excellent credit and put no money down, payments will be HIGH!! if you have bad credit, you will need to put alot down and they will kill you with interest, so payments will still be a little costly, but not AS bad.. for example, me n my friend had new civics i have good credit, put nothin down and was paying about 300 per month. she had horrible credit and had to put down almost $6,000 her payments were less than 300... but you still have to figure that she already put 6,000 down.. and she was paying an high interest rate.. so technically, she was paying more for the car than the asking price.. in my opinion.. just put down even 1,000 if you have it! talk to the finance specialist at these places.. they will definitely have to run your credit anyways before proceeding

Q: 2007 Jeep Commander?
My husband bought me a 2007 Jeep Commander. It is military green and u-g-l-y! It only get 15-16 miles per gallon of gasoline. Now he tells me to get rid of it if I don't like it. How can you approach a dealership about trading in a vehicle you owe $25,000+ against?

A: Good luck with that! Your husband doesnt know much about finances nor cars does he? http://www.transmitmedia.com/golfTDI/

Q: 2007 Jeep Commander question...?
A couple that I work with have just bought a new 2007 Jeep Commander. The problem is, they can't find how to turn on the 4wd...there is no lever, and no switch on the dash or panel that we can see. Their owners manual says that it is 4wd. Does anyone know where you engage it? Is it possible that it is all wheel drive? Any help is very appreciated.

A: it should be built into the transmission, their should be a 4wd position for your gear

Q: Does the 2007 Jeep Commander Play Burned CD's?
I'm talking about cd-r and cd+r.

A: some do and some don't. there was a tsb that came out when burned cd's got popular that said not to replace the radio if it will not play burned cds. there are so many variables in format and quality that they may play and they may not. all manufacturers are this way.

Q: Lift kit for 2007 jeep commander??????
I have a 2007 jeep commander overland and I wanted to know if i can get a lift kit for it. i dont really want to spend a lot of money on it. what would be a good brand and height. I really only use it for driving on the beach on long island ny and sometimes in the mountains. I would also like to know what is involved in installing it. would i be able to get bigger tires with the same rims?

A: There are a few lift kits available for your Jeep Commander (XK). Right off hand I know that Tuff-Country, Superlift, and Rocky-Road Outfitters carry them, OME is coming out with one as are several other companies. The simplest, and most affordable ($250 - $250), is a coil spring spacer setup that will net you about 2.25"s of lift, is fairly easy to DIY and is plenty of lift for what you want to do. There are also some 4" full suspension kits available but plan on spending about $1400++ just for the kit. Here's a couple of links that will help: Check out the installation manual link: http://www.tuffcountry.com/jeep-lift-kits/jeep-2005-06-commander---lift-kits.html http://www.rocky-road.com/commander.html http://www.superlift.com/Catalog.asp?V=223&P=K864 http://www.4wheelerssupply.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/471_1_36_510

Q: 2007 Jeep Commander or 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
We have the Grand Cherokee, and have had it for 18 months. We would like to have a third row for the kids, and friends. Our payment would stay the same, but the last 18 months in payments would be worth nothing... except the use we got out of it.

A: Well, good choices...NO other suv in the class can touch a jeeps capabilities offroad. I have an 06 gc limited 4x4, it is as nice as our lexus, not as smooth but it is a 4x4, can go anywhere. The commander is not much bigger inside but if you really need a 3rd row, then it would work. they drive nice and will offer a little more room. I say go for it if you need the extra room, it sounds like a good deal if your payments stay the same...plus its new. (someone said an explorer is nicer...that had to be a joke)

Q: how much is a 2007 jeep commander and a 2007 chrysler PT cruiser? used and new?

A: go with a jeep patriot. its essentially the same as a commander only cheaper with minor differences. they start around 15k

Q: Is $201.23 for auto ins. a good deal for two cars 1998 Toyota & 2007 Jeep commander?

A: What type of deductible do you have? Are you over 25? How many people are on the policy? Are any of them under 18? What type of history do you have? Tickets? Accidents? DUI? Does either vehicle have a history of accidents? Without knowing the whole story, it's hard to make a yes/no decision. If it's just you and you have a clean record, I'd say you're overpaying.

Q: Why won't JEEP put the 6.1 Hemi (SRT8) in their Commander.?
I'm looking at buying a 2007 Jeep Commander and have been doing some research on all of the available options. I checked out the SRT8 Family which includes the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 with the 6.1 liter, 420 HP Hemi engine. (insert Tim, the tool man, Allen grunt). Why don't they put it in the Commander? Ok, I wasn't on a quest for opinions about the body style here. I can form my own opinions on asthetics. I was looking for insight or educated guesses on why they can offer the 6.1 Hemi in the Grand Chrokee, but not the Commander. So the argument that the unibody construction is too week to handle the torque doesn't hold water. And the comments on fuel efficiency, while taken under consideration, also don't address the root question. After all, if they've already produced the engine for other models, fuel efficiency clearly wasn't the primary consideration.

A: It's mainly because of lack of interest....as the commander and grand cherokee are built on the same platform it would be a simple change but the comander has been a big disappointment saleswise so they just don't want to waste anymore .

Q: whats better( 2007 )hummer h3x vs jeep commander vs gmc yukon?

A: none of them. very bad fuel economy -> very bad for the environment. I don't even understand why people need to buy a Hummer !

Q: around how much does it cost to paint a 07 commander?
I was wondering around how much does it cost to paint the exterior of my 2007 Jeep commander. It is a Light Khaki color now and i want to paint black. thanks

A: it not going to be cheep i would say 25-3500 depending on who you get to paint it

Q: What is your opinion on purchasing a former rental vehicle?
2007 Jeep Commander w/ 30,000 miles (history report is clean other than the fact it was a rental)

A: Here is the biggest problem...I know how I drive rental cars! i would never do it! My dad bought a Taurus that was a former rental and it literally spent more time in the shop than it did on the road! Don't do it, it will come back to haunt you!!!!
