Q: What size speakers fit my 1999 Jeep Cherokee?
I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, 2 door, 4.0L. I want to get new speakers for it, but the bestbuy website says my speakers are 5.25", while the Crutchfield and CircuitCity websites say they are 6.5". I can't really tell by looking at them what their size is, so does any one know?
A: go to Crutchfield.com and put in your vehicles year and stuff, make sureto choose best fit, oem, it will tell ya.
Q: 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic Air Bag Light Staying On?
I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic and within the last two weeks the air bag light comes on and goes off, then stays on then will go off. Anyone elses had this issue? Any possible causes? Problems? What do I need to do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
A: the above answer is perfect. this is not a job for anyone but a dealer to diagnose. they will need to use the Miller tools airbag system load tool to diagnose most likely. they will scan it and go from there. the most likely cause is a bad clockspring in the steering column. it keeps the contact between the instrument panel wiring and the airbag. it would be about $200 installed. get it looked at asap. many people think that if the airbag light is on it cannot go off and that is only partially true. if the light is on because of a short the bags could deploy at any time all by themselves.

A: dont buy a jeep .. Jeeps are crappy SUVS I had an 03 with 22,000 miles on it it was in the shop more than I drove it... timing belts if they break can ruin your whole engine... I wouldnt suggest buying this ...
Q: 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport Coolant Question?
I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with high mileage and wanted to drain out my coolant and change it. Problem is, I can't find the petcock to drain it out. I would just yank off the hose and drain it that way, but getting to it is not an easy task. Anyone know where and how to get to the drain or a better way to do it?
A: Take it to your mechanic. Don't just drain the reservoir and the radiator but flush them out as well and start over with new premixed coolant. It's not all that expensive to have done, or do it your self. It's really easy.
Q: 1999 Jeep Cherokee with no oil pressure when warm or when idling?
1999 Jeep Cherokee with no oil pressure when warm or when idling?
when i start my Jeep the oil pressure is a little lower than normal, as it warms the pressure drops, eventually to zero and the check guages light comes on. When I accelerate the check guages light shuts off and the pressure rises slightly, only a little bit! I have plenty of oil, and I had it changed 3000 miles ago. What is my Jeeps problem?
A: bad bearings or oil pump...get ready for a rebuild....do check the gauge first,,have shop put a gauge on it bypassing yours..but i think its toast...
Q: 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport is making a squealing noise at start up - Serpentine Belt maybe?
My Cherokee has started making a squealing noise when I start it up if, and so far only if, the A/C was on when it was shut off and is still turned on. If I toggle the A/C on and off a couple of times the noise stops. Could this be the serpentine belt? Any other ideas or suggetions appreciated.
A: A/C compressor needs oil.
Q: How much do you thing it would cost to replace the timing belt in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee??
Mine is getting close to the 100K point, so I figure it may be due for a new timing belt. How much do you think it should cost to replace? Also, can I put this off for a while if the Cherokee is still running fine? Thanks!
A: i'm not real sure if this does you any good at all, but i have a 99 Honda Accord and a new timing belt is gonna cost me around $500.
May be somewhere in that range.
Q: 1999 Jeep Cherokee problems starting and with voltage!?
I currently own a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, during the winter i noticed that when leaving work at night turning on the heat and or headlights caused a big drop in voltage. Now that it has warmed up when I left work the out side temp was hot and when i started it cranked for 2 seconds then started. Next day was even more hot when i started it cranked for 10 seconds ... gave it some throttle and it started up. Any info on the voltage / starting problem would be appreciated.
A: i had the same problem for a little while. check your throttle positioning sensor. it affects EVERYTHING in the jeep. i replaced mine and i havent a problem sice. and be sure to check the alternator for any damage or wear/tear
Q: should I trade my 1999 jeep grand cherokee limted for a 07 suzuki gsxr 600 both in great condition?
1999 jeep grand cherokee, 114,000 miles , very good condtion , i have had it forsale for about 3 months now and cant seem to sell it probally because of gas!
The bike is in great condtion also it has 5339 miles, I cant decide what to do, I will proball end up driving bike for a couple of months then selling it!
A: Damn bro you got yourself a great deal . i think you should go for it !! with gas prices this high i would have traded it a long time ago, unless you have a family that you have to drive around a lot. . but if your an only person you should definitely trade it . . and then when you get over the bike you can sell it 2 me lol !!
Q: How much weight can my 1999 jeep cherokee hold?
I am hoping to haul some patio blocks in it today. I want to know how much cargo weight it can safely hold.
A: 1150lbs that is what the max load is rated at... so i would say your good with what your doing just dont go much over 500lbs with out good heavy duty tires. good luck
Q: How can I change the clock on my 1999 jeep cherokee?
It's factory radio and for the life of me I can't figure out how to fix the time on the clock. Used car and I haven't purchased manuel yet.
A: I have 1997 Jeep and I'm sure the clock is the same. You need to use and end of a pen or anything else that has a point on it. On the radio you will see 2 very small concave buttons with the letters M and H. Using the point of your pen push the M button the change the minutes and the H button the change the hour.
Q: I have a 1999 jeep cherokee. It will not start unless I give it a little gas but as soon as it let off it dies
The battery is only 1 week old and the car has 250,000 miles
What is wrong with it?
A: 250K miles is not whats wrong with the Jeep like the above person said. Miles mean nothing as long as its been taken care of.
Anyway I would check out the sensors, like MAF, TPS, EGR, etc
Its gotta be some sensor unplugged, dirty, or not working right.

Q: I want to lift my 1999 Jeep Cherokee. What's the best way to go about this and how much would it cost me?
Any websites, instructions, advice, cost estimations would be great! Thanks in advance.
A: Need to know what size tires you want to run. For up to 31" tires the cheapest would be a "budget boot" or spring spacer lift. You can find these for a few hundred dollars at http://www.quadratech.com and numerous other sites. The prices will all be about the same, don't be fooled by a really cheap one, it most likely won't come with shocks!
For tires in the 33" range you're going to need a 5" lift. The cheapest way to do it would be 2" spring spacers, (2 to 3 hundred bux) and 3" suspension lift (obviously a 4" spring lift and one inch spacers will net the same result. The most popular ones for Cherokee's seem to be the IRO lifts. They'll run you about $350 for a 3" lift and $450 for a 4.5" lift.

If you want to go really big, like a 6" plus spring lift for 35" tires you'll need to spend $1k for a short arm, and closed to $2k for the better riding/flexing long arm suspension, not to mention you'll probably need a new drive shaft and SYE (about $500)- try Rubicon Express or Full Traction for one of those.

Q: 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited 4x4 to 4x2 transfer?
I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, and i will like to change it to a 4x2 (it is currently 4x4) for gas mileage... is this possible and how much? (also would like to change it cuz my front end makes a weird humming sound, thus i will like to cut the two front wheels).
'
also would like to know if anyone knows how much it would to change the AC compressor for the same car?
A: The humming noise is caused by a bad bearing in the front axle.!! Either a wheel bearing or a front differential bearing! The best way to convert your jeep is not a very easy thing to do it involves getting a transmission that was in a two wheel drive vehicle (that definately means you cant look for one in a grand cherokee) Then you have to remove all the gears in the front differential and rig the wheels in front so you can remove the axles and still support the front wheel bearings so they wont fall apart. ( I dont mean the axle housing) All in all you will spend more than 2grand making that all happen and since that jeep is as airodynamic as a cinder block you wont really save that much money filling the tank by the time your jeep falls apart!!
Chaging the ac compressor costs about 145$ plus the cost of the compressor
